Telia’s profitability up More Than 10%

In the first quarter of 2017, Telia Estonia’s profitability increased by 11.5% year-over-year reaching €21.6 million.

The company’s service revenue increased by 2,2% reaching €56,1 million.

According to Dan Strömberg, CEO at Telia Estonia, a little over a year ago Telia launched innovative mobile plans that enabled Estonians to roam in neighboring countries at domestic rates.

“This step proved to be successful for the company throughout the whole year. In the beginning of this year we once again focused on roaming, and today, our customers can roam like home in all European Union countries. This will certainly be one of our main focal points this year as well,” Strömberg said.

At the end of March, Telia had 901,000 mobile subscribers, which is a 4.3% increase compared to last year (863,000). The number of mobile data users also grew substantially – at the end of 3rd quarter, Telia had 342,000 mobile data subscribers, which is 51,000 more than in March 2016.

As of March 2017, 177,000 customers use Telia TV services, which is several thousands more compared to last year. The trend of customers switching from old NutiTV platform to the new Telia TV continued as well. Today, 160,000 customers use Telia TV.

The number of Telia’s broadband users increased from 230,000 to 232,000. In March, Telia became the first local broadband service provider who opened the door to Gigabit Era in Estonia by launching the 1 Gbps home internet service.

Telia employs 1,800 people and the company is the market leader in its main business areas.
