Telia Launches Device Insurance
Telia becomes the first telecoms company in Estonia to offer device insurance. The insurance covers all risks and is available to customers of all mobile operators.
Device insurance provides a wide coverage for mobile phones and tablets: theft, destruction, damage, and accidental loss of the device. New devices can be insured at Telia stores or at Telia’s online store.
According to Maksim Melamed, Value Added Services Area Manager at Telia Estonia, said that the new insurance service is very convenient because customers can subscribe and unsubscribe online.
“If the device falls and breaks or if it is lost or stolen, the customer can report it via Telia’s online self-service center. If the device needs to be repaired or replaced, Telia will arrange and pay for the transport;“ Maksim Melamed explained.
The device insurance has several advantages compared to other similar services. For example, insurance compensation does not decrease with device becoming older. Thus, the compensation is always 100% throughout the insurance period. For example, if something happens with iPhone 6 that was bought a year ago, the insurance provider will replace it with the same model, if possible.
Additionally, if the device is lost or stolen, the insurance covers the costs of unauthorized voice, messaging, and data service usage for up to €200.
According to Maksim Melamed, Telia’s Device Insurance is available to customers of all Estonian mobile operators who buy a new mobile phone or tablet from Telia within 14 days of the purchase.
Telia’s Device Insurance is free for the first 3 months for Telia’s contract customers who use the new Mobile Life plan, Telia’s TV service, or Telia’s Home Internet service. From the fourth month, the monthly cost of the insurance will start at €3.9.
Telia Estonia provides the Device Insurance service in collaboration with Telia Försäkring AB, an insurance company part of the Telia Company. Additionally, Telia collaborates with the International insurance broker Willis Towers Watson, who has handled the world-famous Titanic and Hindenburg cases.
